2 tools in 1!

The  3/8" Bias Combo Tool  is part Bias Binding Maker and part 3rd Hand Binding Folder all in one tool.

The Bias Combo Tool was designed for use on wool mats--all you need to use it is 4 straight pins and your iron.

It's great for making shoelaces, drawstrings and more.
To use the tool for 5/8" Bias Strips
  • Start with a 1 1/4" strip of fabric and starch it for best results.  If you are making shoe laces or drawstrings you will want to use WOF (width of fabric) cuts for the strongest finished results.  Bias cuts are excellent when you need the fabric strip to stretch or curve.
  • Trip the end of the fabric so there is a point at the end as pictured:

  • Insert the point of the strip into the slot and use a pin to help pull it through if necessary.
  • Flip the tool over and pull the fabric out until you see the fabric edges folding in towards the center as pictured above, center.
  • Use straight pins to attach to tool to your wool mat.  I like to have the slot facing me and the folded fabric moving away from me as pictured above, right.
  • Use a hot iron to press the folded edges.  Hold the iron steady as you slowly pull with your other hand.  This will give you excellent creases on each side of your fabric.
To fold the strips in half
  • Take the 5/8" Bias Strip that you just created (or a 5/8" piece of fabric) and slide it into the 3rd Hand Binding Folder Tool on top of the Bias Combo Tool and then put the tip of the fabric strip through the guide on the front of the tool as pictured.
  • Use your hot iron to press the folded edge.  Hold the iron steady as you slowly pull the fabric strip with your other hand.
