Sew on the Go with The Becca Box

Becca Shifflett of "Sew Becca" asked me to create a box for her to carry the following hand sewing items:

Bohin Needle Threader
Thread Snips
Thread
Needles
Sew Fine Thread Gloss
Space for a pen, pencil or glue stick

Becca's request was to have everything be tidy and she wanted the box to close securely. The result is the Becca Box, the first in a series of custom designed Sew on the Go Boxes. This box was designed to maximize storage space for the items she specified while minimizing the size of the box.

The Becca Box closes securely with a sliding latch on the front.

You can customize your Becca Box with the following choices:

1 or 2 thread spindles:

One spindle can hold a large spool of Aurifil Thread a large spool of Quilter's Select Thread or any small spools of thread.
Two spindles can hold two small spools of thread (Aurifil, Mettler, Sulky, etc.)

Sew Fine Thread Gloss "Nest" or No Nest

- There is a cutout that is specifically made to fit the Sew Fine Thread Gloss. Other brands will not fit. You can choose the "no Nest" option if you don't use Sew Fine Thread Gloss and there will be extra space for storage in your box.
No Nest
- If you choose this option you will have more space to store additional spools of thread and/or other sewing necessities like a different brand of thread conditioner, thimbles, different needle threaders, etc.
- If you select "No Nest" and you don't use the Bohin Needle Threader in the center you can store up to 7 small spools of thread in the storage area. (You can also place an additional small spool of thread next to your needles as pictured below.)
- If you select "No Nest" and you use the Bohin Needle Threader in the center you can store up to 4 spools of thread in the storage area.

Snips or scissors?

You can use either thread snips or small scissors with any of The Becca Boxes.. Either fits neatly in the holster on the lid and is securely held in place with a magnet.

Pins and Needles

You can store up to 7 pins and needles in your Becca Box. They are held in place with a strong magnet and are surrounded by protective walls to keep the pins and needles from touching your thread.

Optional Items

Thread Wraps

If you are using a spool of thread that doesn't have those nifty end caps to tuck your thread into you might want some thread wraps. They come in two sizes:

Small: for small spools and also for large spools that have been used enough that they are a smaller diameter
Large: for larger spools of thread that are still rather full. Once you use enough thread the wraps won't hold as tightly and you may want to use a small thread wrap to hold the thread in place.
